SportsGolfCyprus has three professional 18-hole golf courses. Secret Valley is
located near Aphrodite's Rock, on the old Limassol to Paphos road. Tsada
Golf Club, which was designed by Donald Steel, is set in the grounds of a
12th-century monastery, 20 minutes drive north of Paphos. The newest golf
course is located in the Aphrodite Hills, amid groves of olive and carob
trees, overlooking the Mediterranean. WatersportsThere are numerous watersports available on the major beaches around Ayia Napa, Pafos, Larnaca and Limassol, including jet-skiing, water-skiing, kayaking, snorkeling, banana boats, paragliding etc. The sleepy fishing village of Latchi, west of Polis, features a
watersports centre which is located close to two good dives - a 40-metre
wall dive and a cave dive. You can also learn to sail, windsurf and scuba
dive here. SkiingThe skiing on Mount Olympus is excellent. The
scenery on the 1,952 metre peak is fabulous too. You can ski from
Late December to March, and its possible to go
skiing down the pine-fringed slopes in the morning, then go sunbathing on
the beach in the afternoon. There is a ski shelter and
cafe, four ski lifts, and a number of different runs. Beginners can take
lessons from the professional instructors, and the skiing is perfect for
beginners and experienced alike. All the equipment can be hired on site
and lift passes are provided for a small charge. HorseracingThere is only one racetrack in Cyprus, and it's located just on the edge of the Green Line in Nicosia. Race meetings are organised by the Nicosia Race Club, which is a non-profit making organisation. Horseracing takes place every Wednesday and Saturday. Children are welcome and special group visits in private facilities can be arranged. Racing in Cyprus is governed by the Rules of Racing of the Cyprus Turf Club, which are based on the the Rules of Racing of the Jockey Club of Great Britain. Betting is fully computerised, and placing a bet is generally simple.
